Assignment 1

Work on your personal DOTS Blackboard course. Base your work on the results of all your previous assignments and on the resources presented throughout DOTS. The main purpose of this assignment is to give you an opportunity to implement as much as possible of your newly acquired knowledge and skills to a course template that will support and guide your future course-design efforts. You have been adding elements to this course for the last several weeks. Now you will work on fine-tuning, augmenting, and restructuring these elements.
As this is a draft course, you are not expected to produce a finished product.

  • "Module 6" forum in the Discussions area

Timeline

  • Start: Saturday, 5/30
  • End: By the end of Module 6
     

Assignment 2 (tentative)

Use Wimba to present your work on your personal DOTS course to the rest of your group and to the facilitators. This is intended as an informal walkthrough of your course, aimed primarily at familiarizing you with the instructor end of the Wimba Classroom tool and secondarily at having you share with us some of your course-design ideas and comments.

 

We will be scheduling four one-hour-long sessions between Wednesday, 6/3, noon and Friday 6/5, 11:00 a.m. There will be three to four presentations per session. You only need to participate in one of the sessions.

 

UPDATE: The main objective of this exercise is for you to get some familiarity presenting in Wimba. However, the Wimba workshops to date may have been insufficient to prepare you for this exercise. Therefore, Module 6 will be devoted exclusively to working on your draft courses (Assignment 1) and to one-on-one face-to-face consultations with us, as needed.
Use the Module 6 forum, under "Discussions," or email us directly for assistance with your course drafting.
